We work in partnership with the Marin County Office of Education, our fiscal and legal sponsor, impacting over 4,000 students receiving special education services.
For 16 years now, Toyota Marin has generously donated a brand new car to help raise money for special education in Marin. This is an extraordinary partnership that celebrates the best of everything we stand for – families, educators, and community coming together for our kids. You may have seen us out at various locations between November and February selling tickets. Our Benefit Car Raffle is an event that allows our community of families and educators to participate in a meaningful way. Look out for our calls for volunteers, and join the fun!
In 1977, all school districts and county school offices in California were required to form geographical regions of sufficient size and scope to provide for all special education service needs of children residing within the region’s boundaries. Each region became known as a Special Education Local Plan Area – SELPA. Each SELPA has a Local Plan describing how it provides special education services.
TRC’s mission is to inform, evaluate, provide, and maintain appropriate Assistive Technology and Augmentative Alternative Communication (AT/AAC) tools, services, and opportunities for all students and their families in Marin County. We serve students with any type of disability throughout their educational experience.
The Technology Resource Center of Marin was created and funded by DSE in 2001. While DSE continues to provide essential support, the program is now maintained by the Marin County Office of Education. The TRC serves special education students in Marin, and has become an internationally acclaimed model for delivering the AT/AAC services our students need for living and learning.
