A Water Sculpture Tribute

Add your inscription! Shout your love to the world!

At the very heart of The Village at Corte Madera, "Community", our magnificent water sculpture delights and honors the generous community of Marin County supporting special education. Created by famed designer Archie Held (Archie and his wife, Janet, are parents and long-time DSE stalwarts), four piller represent the alliance between educators, family, community and business, and rise gracefully together in support of children with special needs.

The base of the sculpture is engraved with hundreds of personal messages and tributes donated since its dedication in 2005. We invite you to participate in this community project by purchasing an engraving. Honor your child, grandchild, friend, educator in a meaningful way. Memorials and in honor of outstanding individuals are welcome.

Parent Connections Meetings

Meeting and connecting with fellow parents is the backbone of Dedication to Special Education. There is no better way to learn about the systems and strategies each family negitiates in providing the best opportunities for the children.

And there is no better community support for when we hit a bump in the road (and we ALL hit many bumps over the years!). Ours strength is in our number of committed families working together for each other and for the children.

We offer monthly meetings for parents to gather informally. Sometimes there are questions, sometimes laughter, tears and compassion. Always, there are open hearts and and helping hands.

Playtime Saturday

Join us for the first Saturday of the month - during the school year) as we provide supervised playgound time that gives families (mom, dad, siblings) a chance to have fun together in a safe environment. The playgound at Marindale in Terra Linda is designed specifically for kids with special needs. And on rainiy days, we can move indoors for classroom art projects and games.

Special education teachers and aides are on hand to help out with structured activities and art projects, while parents have a chance to enjoy a cup of coffee and connect with each other. This is targeted for abe 7 and under. Coffee, juice and snacks are provided. FUN for the whole family!

If you'd like to help out by bringing healthy snacks, please contact us.
